NFL Public Bets

Week 1 of the NFL season is almost upon us and William Hill Sportsbook just released their NFL Public Bets report to kickoff the season.

During the NFL betting season we provide a NFL Public Bets Consensus report on a weekly basis. Whether you like to fade the public or follow the crowd, knowing who the public is betting on has become critical info for sports bettors.

NFL Week 1: Who is the Public On?

NFL Public Bets

Taking a look at the week 1 numbers, a yellow highlight is for any game with a solid consensus percentage (above 60%) for bet tickets and overall betting handle at William Hill Sportsbooks. Games highlighted in green point to away dogs who are receiving heavy public betting action leading into week 1.

Overall, 9 games qualify as consensus picks, with 4 of the 9 being road underdogs. If you follow me on Twitter, you know I love to bet against road dogs getting public love, especially in the NFL.

The Texans vs. Saints may be the most interesting public bets action for Week 1. Just 61% of the tickets have come in on the Texans (+7), but a massive 91% of the money has come in on Houston. They are the only team to have over 90% of the money wagered.

What does this mean? There is a LOT of money on the Texans. This will be an interesting number to keep an eye on leading up to Week 1 at NJ online sports betting sites. The difference of 30% between total percentage of tickets and total percentage of money is by far the largest in this game in Week 1.

Other games with big % of money on one team: Ravens 87%, 49ers 87%, Lions 88%, Bengals 87%, Giants 83%.
