Week 15 of college football is always a great one, it’s Conference Championship Week! NJ Sportbook apps are ready for a big weekend of action before bowl season begins.

There are 10 conference championship games this weekend, starting with Oregon and Utah for the PAC 12 Championship on Friday night.

William Hill Sportsbook has provided us with their College Football Public Bets report from their U.S. sportsbook locations.

College Football Public Bets Week 15

Championship Game Point Spread Percentage of Bets Percentage of Handle
OREGON v UTAH UTAH -6.5 66% UTAH 84% UTAH
MIAMI (OH) v CMU CMU -6.5 82% CMU 94% CMU
UL LAFAYETTE v APPST APPST -6 73% APPST 81% APPST
BAYLOR v OU OU -9 73% BAYLOR 77% BAYLOR
UAB vs FAU FAU -8 79% FAU 91% FAU
CIN v MEM MEM -9.5 54% CIN 80% CIN
HAW v BOISE STATE BOISE -14 71% BOISE 70% BOISE
UGA v LSU LSU – 7 80% LSU 67% LSU
WISC v OSU OSU -16.5 81% OSU 92% OSU
UVA v CLEM CLEM -28.5 62% CLEM 51% CLEM

Of the 10 championship games, there are seven games with spreads of a touchdown or more.

Clemson being favorited by over four touchdowns is insane for a conference championship game, but the ACC has struggled to have any competition for the Tigers in recent years.

Top Percentage of Bets

Championship Game Point Spread Percentage of Bets
MIAMI (OH) v CMU CMU -6.5 82% CMU
WISC v OSU OSU -16.5 81% OSU
UGA v LSU LSU – 7 80% LSU
UAB vs FAU FAU -8 79% FAU

Of the 10 championship games, only four of them have 79% or more of the bets on one team. Compared to most weeks and NFL, that is not a high number at all.

All four of these games have 79% or more of the bets on favorites, and heavy favorites at that. Ohio State is a massive 16.5-point favorite against Wisconsin, but even still 81% of the bets have come in on the Buckeyes.

Central Michigan has the most bets of any team in this weekend’s conference championships, as bettors love them at -6.5-point favorites. Less than a touchdown favorites are quite popular in college and bettors do not usually like to cross the seven as much, so that 6.5-point spread is attractive.

Central Michigan was 1-11 last year, so to be favored in the conference championship and receive 82% of the bets is something.

Top Percentage of Handle

Championship Game Point Spread Percentage of Bets Percentage of Handle
MIAMI (OH) v CMU CMU -6.5 82% CMU 94% CMU
WISC v OSU OSU -16.5 81% OSU 92% OSU
UAB vs FAU FAU -8 79% FAU 91% FAU

The handle is similar to the total bets for two of the top three teams, but there are some significant differences.

FAU has 79% of the bets, but a whopping 91% of the money has come in on the Owls, meaning there has been some huge bets on FAU to cover eight points against UAB.

As mentioned above, bettors love that 6.5-point spread for CMU, so much that 94% of the betting handle is on them. William Hill Sportsbook is certainly rooting big for Miami Ohio this weekend.

Two other notables to keep an eye on are LSU and Cincinnati. Look how much of a difference there is here:

Championship Game Point Spread Percentage of Bets Percentage of Handle
UGA v LSU LSU – 7 80% LSU 67% LSU
CIN v MEM MEM -9.5 54% CIN 80% CIN

As you can see, 80% of the bets are on LSU, but only 67% of the handle is on the Tigers. This means some large bets have come in on Georgia, which is very interesting given the matchup and how Georgia’s weakness is scoring points, so they will need to keep up with LSU, and are only getting a touchdown.

Cincinnati has had some heavy money come in on them +9.5, as 80% of the handle is on the Bearcats despite just 54% of the total tickets.
